New Years Week

Loading Sea J II ... A tent, hammock, foam bedding, personal knapsacks and bags, towels for all, paint supplies, plenty of flashlights, snorkel gear, campstove, cooking utensils, paper and plasticware, several cases of beer, a case of water, and 2 coolers loaded with enough food for 7 people for 6 days... hard to believe but there was still plenty of space for all.

We took a day trip over leaving at noon and arriving before 4 using power and sail. Despite not having the correct papers for Ryan and Gabrielle we were successfully checked into the BVIs by our skipper, Will.

6 of us lived ashore in a cabin, a provided tent, a personal tent and a hammock and Will, wisely, lived on his vessel coming ashore for food and fun. The schedule was arduous. First you had to wake up. Then there was breakfast produced by the the chief chef, Massah Chris, followed by a swim, a nap, a book, a nap, a late lunch (Massah Chris serving again), a nap, a swim, a shower, a nap, dinner (once more Massah Chris), and play till the wee hours or until sleep called again.

On New Years eve we went over to the next bay to Foxies, the reknowned Caribbean New Years Eve party place. Adam and Jake played there till past the gong, dancing and perfecting their social skills. Ryan, Gabrielle, Chris and myself returned to Ivans where we danced in the sand to reggae band 02.

At 2 in the morning of this first day of the brand new year 03, sufficiently fatiqued, we called upon the chief chef, Massah Chris, to prepare us a breakfast of french toast and hot dogs.
