Traveling with kids
in the tropics; discovering
the perfect family resort.
Learning about the Tainos,
the Arawaks or the Danes;
walking through the
ruins of an 1800 industry.
Hiking through a rainforest,
swimming with turtles;
exploring the nature
of the islands ashore
and underwater.
Even if you are a long
time resident or regular
visitor to these islands
there will always be
something new to discover
within this tropical
basin called the Caribbean.
A new cove, a lesser
know bed and breakfast,
a hiking trail across
an untamed isthmus or,
along a more mundane
line, finding some interesting
new convenience started
up by an innovative
entrepreneur or discovering
a friendly and fun place
to let your hair down
with the locals.
These articles and
links might inspire
you to come for your
first visit, might open
your eyes to a new way
to travel or might simply
trigger memories of
a past vacation.

by European colonisers. ...Petroglyphs,
such as the ones found near Mt.
Rich, in the North of the island,
are a major legacy of the Kalinago....
Taino
People Today, an article
by Gail V. Karisson
My family and I have learned a
little bit about the Taino culture
by volunteering at the Cinnamon
Bay (St. John, US Virgin Islands)
archaelogy site...
"Caribbean festivals
go beyond carnivals. There
is an array of other festivals
reflective of the rich
cultural and ethnic diversity
of the region. Many center
around religious observances,
such as Phagwah and Diwali
which are celebrated by
Hindus and Eid-ul- Fitr
which is celebrated by
Muslims...[and] then there
are festivals associated
with things not original
to the Caribbean such
as jazz..." [Go

considered a local hotspot.
There is always some happening
there that draws the locals

over for a visit.
Ivan's
Campground: White
Bay, Jost Van Dyke. Best
known for it's stress

back ambiance. This is
the place that residents
of the other surrounding

to "get away" and
rejuvenate.
