Summer Art Program for Kids, Glassblowing, Mosaic, Clay, Pottery,
Ceramics, Throwing, Sculpture, Studio Techniques, Open Studio

  • Glassblowing - Make Your Own Paperweight and Sun Catcher Class (ongoing)
    Instructor: Eric
    Dates: every Mon, Tues, and Wed throughout the summer
    Time: 4pm - 5pm
    Cost: $60

  • 6 week Summer Art for Local Kids, - Ceramics & Painting (6 week class)
    Instructors: Mandy Thody, Jill Hale and Viki Brown
    Dates: Tues (for 7-I2yrs. old) and Thurs (for 13-J7yrs. old), June 10th - July 17th
    Time: lOam - 3:30pm
    Cost: $240 °partial scholarships available

  • Heaven & Earth/Stars & Clay (2 day workshop)
    Instructors: Kelly Hunter and Gail Van de Bogurt
    Dates: June 21st and June 22nd
    Time: 9:30am - 4pm; Stargazing at 7:30pm Saturday, June 21st
    Cost $175 (Maho staff$ 150)

  • Intermediate to Advanced Hand building & Throwing Class (1 week workshop)
    Instructor: Gail Van de Bogurt
    Dates: June 24th - 27th, June 30th, July 1st
    Time: 1pm - 4pm
    Cost: $210

  • Raku Clay Clasa (4 week class)
    Instructor: Lynn Berry
    Dates: every Wednesday, July 9th - August 6th
    Time: 1pm - 4pm
    Cost: $175

  • Children’s Beginner & Intermediate Throwing Class (5 week class)
    Instructor: Gail Van de Bogurt or Maho Staff
    Dates: every Wednesday, July 9th - August 6th (for JO - l4yrs. old)
    Time: lOam - 12pm
    Cost: $125 per class 5parrzal scholarships available

  • Majolica Pottery Class (4 week class)
    Instructor: Liberty Bryer
    Dates: every Thursday July 10th - July 31st
    Time: 6pm - 9pm
    Cost: $175
  • Introduction to Studio Techniques (2 day class)
    Instructor: Gail Van de Bogurt
    (this class is a prerequisite for using open studio times and/or studio membership)
    Dates: Mondays on July 14th and 21st; or Mondays on August 4th and 11th
    Time: 2pm - 4pm
    Cost: $50 (Maho staff $40)

  • Beginners Wheel Throwing (5 week class)
    Instructor: Gail van de Bogurt
    Date: every Tuesday July 5th - August 12th
    Time: 6pm - 9pm
    Cost: $175

  • Mosaic Wall Workshop (I day workshop)

  • Pottery Fixtures for your Home (4 week class)

Paint Your Own Pottery Party “Raku Style” (ideal for birthday parties or special groups)
Date: every Saturday throughout summer by advance appointment only
Time: painting session lOam - 11:30am with Raku firing session at 1:30pm
Cost: $150, price includes up to 10 party members
 
Private Throwing Classses
Dates and Times: All classes are 3hrs by advance appointment only
Cost: $100 for I person; $60 for 2 people; $40 for 3 people
 
Open Studio Session (studio time available for those with clay experience only)
Dates and Times: Monday 6pm - 9pm
Wednesday 6pm -9pm
Friday 6pm - 9pm (after June 20th)
Saturday 11am - 2pm Cost: $30 per session (Maho staff $20)

Monthly Membership for Locals
Date and Time: same as Open Studio
Cost: $85 per month (Maho staff $60)
Includes. 25 lbs. of clay, glazes, firing and 10% discount on classes and workshops

Clay Prices
Cost: $30 for 251bs. (raku, red earthenware, and white stoneware available)

Ages:
All classes are for students 15 yrs. of age and older enless otherwise noted.

Financial Aid:
Partial Scholarships are available for childrens ckasses through the Artist Association of St. John

  • Classes and workshops have limited space. For large groups special classes can be arranged. Please contact Jill Hale at the Maho Bay Art Department for further information.
  • For class descriptions and sign-ups please contact the Maho Bay Art Department at 340-776-6226
  • All children and Family Classes are taught by staff artists.
    All Adult Classes are taught by processional artists.
  • Adults accompanied by a child may take the children/family class at the child's class rate.
  • Art Classes are not childcare. Children who are not old enough to be left by themselves must be accompanied by a baby-sitter or responsible family member.
  • Pottery pieces can be shipped for an additional charge.
  • Private individual and group classes are available on request.
